APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After IT06976 the current behavior with hostname in the URL is
1. First ACTIVE status is sent to License Manager <CORRECT>
2. NEXT ACTIVE status is not sent and 'CLOSED' status is not
sent .- <WRONG>
3.  Connection_Time_Out is the status seen on LICENSE Manager
due to failure of step 2

Local fix

  • Use IP address instead of hostname in URL

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
* Users of IBM Personal Communications using License server's  *
* hostname for connecting with License Manager server.         *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
* User configures License server hostname as part of "URL"     *
* link keyword defined in pcswin.ini file. When the IBM        *
* Personal Communications session is started and closed, the   *
* client fails to send "CLOSED"  status to the configured      *
* License server.                                              *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
IBM Personal Communications using License server's hostname
sends only the first "ACTIVE" Status . Intermediate  "ACTIVE "
status and last "CLOSED" status is not sent to the License
manager server.  "Connection_Time_Out" status is seen on the
LICENSE Manager.

Problem conclusion

  • PCSCM.EXE has been changed to send intermediate  "ACTIVE "
status and  "CLOSED"  status to the License server.

Fix scheduled for PCOMM 6.0.16 Refresh Pack.
